Larry Gogan, The King of Radio, comes to Portlaoise for the Trick 'R Street Festival.

RTE 2fm's Larry Gogan is coming to Portlaoise on the 31st October to broadcast live from the Roadcaster for the Trick 'R Street Festival. Laois Chamber of Commerce has co-ordinated sponsorship from generous businesses and bodies from Portlaoise town to finance the Roadcaster's visit to the town.

Larry Gogan is a Living Legend and he is delighted to be coming to Portlaoise: "It is many years since we last broadcast in Portlaoise and I am thrilled to be travelling down with the Roadcaster once again. I know the Chamber of Commerce have done tremendous work in raising sponsorship for us to be there and we are honoured to be part of the first Trick 'R Street Festival. I've heard all about the fabulous parade and dance that are planned an, of course, The Coronas concert in O'Moore Park will be magnificent. It's going to be a great Halloween and I'm looking forward to it very much."

By way of supporting the Trick 'R Street Festival and more importantly promoting the Town of Portlaoise, RTE 2FM offered to bring the Road-caster to broadcast from Portlaoise on the day of the festival- Saturday 31st October 2009 if sponsorship could be raised. Margaret Ryan, CEO of Laois Chamber of Commerce, co-ordinated the raising of the sponsorship and explained the process: "The 2FM Roadcaster of course needs to be financed, taking into account the financial demands that business is now experiencing daily it's a "big ask" for any individual business to be the sole sponsor. The chamber is seeking the collective support of the business community to support this national advertising opportunity as an excellent opportunity for local businesses to support the festival and access the benefits of being the sponsors of the roadcaster while promoting local business and commerce in Laois and Portlaoise".

Sponsorship has already been gratefully received from Annie Apple Shoes, Brendan's Menswear, Breslin Pharmacy, Browne & Co Jewellers, Delaney & Sons, Egan's, Flynn’s Menswear, Hughes Pharmacy, Kingpins, Laois Chamber of Commerce, Laois County Council, Lismard Retail Park, Little Piggies, O'Farrell Optician, Office Centre, O'Loughlins Hotel & Pharmacy,Primary Colours, Rolleston Solicitors, Shaws, Studio 2 Hair Salon, Supermacs, Telfords, Tesco, The Clothes Line, The Killeshin Hotel, The Square Meal, Vegas, Colgan, Fifty Seven and Miller's Hardware.

If any other businesses or bodies would like to participate in the sponsorship of the Roadcaster it's not too late. For full details on how to be part of the Promote Portlaoise for Halloween contact Laois Chamber at 057 8621598 or email admin[at]laoischamber[dot]ie.
